Job Description:

Billease is a consumer fintech company in the Philippines. Its iOS app is where people take cash loans, use a credit line, buy now and pay later online and in store, pay bills and buy mobile loads.

We are hiring a Senior iOS Developer to own large parts of that app end to end, from the spec to production. You will join a small iOS team that works closely with Android, backend, QA, design and product.

What you will own

Like everyone on our team, you will ship features and, within six months, share ownership of how the team ships them.

- Features, end to end

- Production issues: trace them to the root cause, then ship the fix and a regression test.

- Unit tests, Smoke Tests, UI tests using Skills and Maestro

- Code review

- Releases and hotfixes

- Quality improvements

- AI usage knowledge sharing

What we are looking for

You have kept a large iOS app healthy for years, you use AI agents seriously, and you own outcomes rather than tickets.

Engineering

- 6+ years of professional development, 5+ of them on iOS in Swift, including a large production app you maintained for 2+ years.

- Expert Swift, including Swift Concurrency (async/await, actors, @MainActor) and Combine, in a codebase that still has GCD.

- SwiftUI and UIKit together in one app: SwiftUI state and lifecycle, and hosting and navigation across both.

- MVVM with coordinators, a modular codebase, CocoaPods and Swift Package Manager

- Networking and data: async REST calls, Codable, error handling and retries, Core Data and the Keychain, with a security-first instinct for auth, sessions and data at rest.

- From Figma to components: designs, specs and design tokens turned into reusable SwiftUI components, together with designers.

- Testing as a habit, and debugging production issues from evidence: crash reports, Instruments, the memory graph.

Not a match on every tool? We value engineering judgment and fundamentals over any single library. A strong senior who knows the patterns will ramp up fast.

How you work

- Regular use of AI coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or similar) on real, non-trivial work, well beyond autocomplete. If your employer does not allow them, side projects count.

- You give agents context, verify what they produce, and never ship code you cannot explain.

- Done means it works for customers. You raise problems early: an unclear spec, a risky deadline, a bug you introduced.

- Clear written English: merge request descriptions, review comments and questions that a colleague understands without a call.

- You enjoy programming for its own sake and dig until you understand why something works.

- A deep passion for process improvement and engineering

How we work with AI agents

AI coding agents are part of our daily work, and every line they write still has a human owner who understands it. We use Claude Code with a shared rulebook for agents and reusable skills for repetitive work. Every developer on the team tries to make this better: bring opinions on where agents help, where they hurt.

Nice to have

- Fintech or payments apps, including KYC and data privacy.

- Data-at-rest encryption and biometrics (Face ID, Touch ID).

- Feature-flagged delivery, analytics instrumentation and crash monitoring.

- UI automation with Maestro or XCUITest, and static analysis (SwiftLint, SwiftFormat).

- Migrating UIKit and storyboard screens to SwiftUI, and contributing to a shared design system.

Our stack

- Language and UI: Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, async/await, Combine, Figma and design tokens.

- Architecture and data: MVVM with coordinators, CocoaPods and SPM modules, Core Data, Keychain.

- Quality and security: Swift Testing, Maestro, feature flags, crash monitoring, app-integrity checks, AI-assisted development.

What is hard here

- Legacy next to new. Expect to trace how something really works before you change it, and to leave each area better than you found it.

- Correctness is the job. Amounts, dates and error states must be right on every path, including the unhappy ones.

- Deep reviews. Reviews here go deep, and you will give them as well as receive them.

- Work across teams. Most features ship on iOS and Android and depend on backend contracts, so much of the work is settling details with other teams.

This role is probably not for you if you want fully specified tickets handed to you or see testing as QA's job. The same goes if you only enjoy greenfield work, or think AI agents are either useless or infallible.
